We went to an important meeting today.
We didn’t know why we were there, but all came.
It was boring and lame, but we sat in the group.
Paying our respects like a loyal trusted troop.

A half hour in, still nothing’d been said,
and hand on my heart, it was doing in my head.
No progress’d been made and the topics felt old.
Still the manager’s feathers were polished, and bold.

He demanded we’d listen, and payed our attention,
Or else we might all get some grown-up detention.
Since once signing the sheet, turn employed, you yourself…
you mandate to put your brains outside, on the shelf.

So an hour did pass, and with still nothing new!
We kept going in circles, the theme no one knew.
Only one thing helped me to staying awake.
T’was continuous munching on that dry, homebaked cake.

Still, boss man, just rigidly, kept going and going.
No interest in getting us all onboard was showing.
Nothing more but a manifestation, it was, of his ways.
Without limitations he could have been at it for days.

The colleague right next to me did fall asleep,
Each heavy breath making his chair constantly creek.
None made effort to wake him, even though everyone knew.
Cause he only did what us all wished to do.

After yet another hour the thing came to an end.
And it was time for the meeting to finally descend.
It should have ended sooner, I feel, when now looking back.
Cause we left it with nothing to show on our track.

And five minutes after that meeting had ended.
After getting another hot coffee with milk, just horribly blended.
For a next ‘important’ meeting, again I set out.
On the dot, walking head first into the next creative drought.
